| The Public Transportation system in the country has witnessed a dramatic change with leading City Transport Corporations taking the initiative to migrate to advanced technology solutions for fleet automation and enhancing passenger convenience. The Passenger Information System (PIS) installed is one such project which has been successfully implemented by Arya Omnitalk.
One of the leading City Transport Corporation needed to provide Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of their city busses on all major bus stops. And to do so, it required a GPS based tracking of every bus on minute to minute basis with the ETA to be displayed on a jumbo LED display on every bus stop through wireless connectivity.
While offering the solution, Arya Omnitalk chose GPRS as a wireless backbone to meet the required information refresh rate while keeping optimal operating cost. A control room was established with a server setup and a digitized map incorporating all the bus stops and routes.
Apart from just locating the required buses, the solution was further enhanced to dynamically link the data of every bus with the route to be followed so as to create logical reports pertaining to speed, stoppages, delays, rerouting, etc. The combined solution in integration with the in-bus vehicle units, bus stop display boards, tracking and PIS application, is today exhibiting the scheduled time as well as the ETA of each bus on every bus stop in Indore, which is calculated using a complex GIS logic considering road impedance, current bus speed & location, etc. Arya Omnitalk has helped the City Transportation fulfill their promise of providing a state-of-the-art transportation system to their citizens. |
